About me

My name is Cristina Durigon and I am an Integrative Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor working in Victoria/Westminster areas.

People seek therapy for different reasons. You may want to explore better ways of coping with old problems, or try to see different possibilities in your relationships, life or career. You may also be going through a difficult emotional time in your life, and facing these situations, alone, can be quite challenging.

Psychotherapeutic sessions can be a space to talk through these themes. I offer a confidential, non-judgmental and safe environment so different issues can be explored. My aim is for you to find a better and deeper understanding of yourself, becoming more comfortable in your own life. Some of the areas that I work include: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, relationship problems, loss and bereavement, trauma, sexual abuse, rape, sex, sexuality, cultural issues, psychosomatic problems and etc.

I offer short and long term psychotherapy to adults and young people from 18 years old. I work with the Integrative approach and I combine a number of theories in my style to better suit my client’s needs. My main approaches include the Humanistic tradition and Relational Psychoanalysis.

Please see my website for more information – www.cristinadurigon.com.

Training, qualifications & experience

I work full time as a psychotherapist and I see clients in my private practice in Victoria/Westminster (central London) areas. I worked in the NHS as a psychotherapist for almost a decade in primary and secondary care services. I have experience working with a number of clients who suffered a wide range of problems with different levels of complexity.

I hold a Diploma in Counselling, an Advanced Diploma, a Diploma in Clinical Supervision and an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy awarded by the Minster Centre in conjunction with the Middlesex University.

I am a registered member of the UKCP, the UK Council for Psychotherapy as well as the BACP (MBACP), the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and, as such, I abide to the Code of Ethics and procedures of both organizations.

My previous work experience includes:

- Primary Care Mental Health Service IAPT/NHS - Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

- Primary Care Mental Health Service IAPT/NHS  - Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS Foundation Trust.

- Families Without Fear Programme – specialized service for women who experienced psychological trauma.
- Women and Girls’ Network - specialized service for women who were recovering from sexual abuse in relationships and domestic violence.

My background is in architecture/interior design and I have worked in this field for many years.

Apart from English, I also provide sessions in Portuguese.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
