I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice. I am accredited by BACP and COSCA and registered through both these professional bodies. I have almost twenty years' experience and work with a wide range of issues, including: depression, relationship problems, anxiety, work-related stress, abuse, panic attacks, loss, bereavement, self-esteem problems, trauma, relationship breakdown, divorce, feeling uneasy, general unhappiness, life transitions, and problems expressing or managing anger.
Training, qualifications & experience
- MSc Counselling (Strathclyde University, 2011)
- Certificate in Counselling Supervision (PCT Britain, 2006)
- Pg Diploma in Counselling (Strathclyde University, 2000-2002)
- HNC Counselling (Telford College, 1998-2000)
In addition to my professional qualifications I have undertaken further and ongoing training to enhance my practice, including workshops in Pre-Therapy, in existential philosophy and therapy, in difficult client process and in developmental trauma.
I started working on a telephone helpline in the mid-1990s, which sparked my interest in listening therapeutically and led me to complete train as a counsellor. I managed a successful voluntary sector counselling service for ten years and, later, a range of mental health and counselling services for adult survivors of child sexual abuse.
