Counselling In The Communty (CiC)

Counselling in the Community is different to many other organisations because we believe everyone has the right to access counselling services, no matter their financial status. We only ask to make a donation for use of our services IF you wish to and IF you can afford to.
What also makes us different is that we don't just extend our services to adults, but to children and young people too.
We are passionate about helping the Blackpool and the Fylde community through difficult periods in their lives, and open our doors to them. We provide a safe, comfortable and confidential space for people to come to talk and to be heard.
WHO CAN ACCESS COUNSELLING IN THE COMMUNITY?
Anyone can access our service. We do understand that accessing counselling can be daunting for anyone. As an organisation, we are aware that some people may have additional needs or disabilities. We aim to be inclusive of all people no matter their personal status. You have a choice of male and female counsellors, so please drop in for a friendly, no fee or obligation chat to discuss if we are right for you, as you’re what matters to us.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR FIRST SESSION
The first initial appointment will be with one of our highly trained counsellors so you can ask any questions you have about counselling and they will do their best to answer these and put you at ease. Our services will be fully explained at this point and how we operate. You will then be assigned a counsellor that will be suitable for you. On your first session with your counsellor, you and your counsellor will sign a contract between the two of you explaining confidentiality and then your session will begin. But don't worry if you don't know how to start, your counsellor will be there to help with this.
ARE ALL THE COUNSELLORS FULLY QUALIFIED?
Adults seeking counselling on a donation basis may be seen by one of our amazing trainee counsellors. They have had years of training and assessments to ensure that they are fit to be with members of the public and are monitored closely. You do have a right to refuse a trainee however and this does not affect your right to access out service.
This does not apply for children or adolescent counselling on a donation basis. The counsellor will be fully qualified.
We also offer private counselling sessions. The counsellor will be fully qualified with a minimum of two years experience with clients.
There is no waiting list for this service. Clients are offered a pre-counselling appointment within a week, free of charge. This appointment will ensure that counselling is right for you. This is at a cost of £30 per hour.
Benefits of private counselling:
- More flexibility
- More Choice
- No waiting list
- Fully qualified counsellor (not a trainee)
- Choice of male or female counsellors
Training, qualifications & experience
All qualified counsellors hold either a Foundation Degree or a relevant Diploma in person centred counselling.
Some qualified counsellors have additional qualifications or are working towards them, for example CBT, play therapy and safe guarding.
Qualified counsellors have a minimum of 2 years experience with clients.
