About me

Counselling can be the first step in taking care of yourself and creating self value. As a fully qualified counsellor I aim to provide a warm, trustworthy and genuine relationship throughout our work together, enabling personal growth and positive influences in your ability to take charge of your life without giving you advice or sharing my opinions.

I believe that the quality of the relationship between client and therapist in feeling safe and understood, are the necessary conditions for working through your problems and determining the outcome of therapy.

I have experience working with a wide range of diverse and psychological issues and I am accredited in the Influences of Behaviour.  Various settings that I have worked, include the NHS in GP Surgeries, Registered Bereavement Services (HBBS) and Mainstream Secondary Schools within the public sector. I am also a consultant for counsellors.
My Private Practice offers Individual Counselling and Couples Counselling.

I believe that everyone is unique with their own personal view of the world and each individual has their own responses to life events.  Men and women of all ages and backgrounds seek counselling for many different reasons such as, feeling confused or unhappy with relationships, troubled by reactions to events or people from past experiences, suffering from stress, anxiety, feeling depressed and lonely or emotionally distressed with a recent life crises such as divorce or bereavement. You may simply be feeling that something's not 'quite right' and want to make sense of your life.
Sharing how you feel with your counsellor and having your feelings heard and respected, can be extremely helpful in facilitating change.

How you express your feelings is personal and we all have our own ways of doing this. Within the process of counselling, I aim to help you gain a sense of awareness of how the difficulties you are experiencing are impacting on your life and your relationships. Therapy enables you to explore and identify your feelings, whilst help you to recognise and draw on your own resources and strengths in discovering solutions to grow and develop.

As an experienced practitioner and a registered member of the professional association, (BACP) I run my own practice with the highest level of competence in abiding by ethical guidelines and I am committed to professional development to enhance my work. My approaches include Psychotherapy, Humanistic, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Transactional Analysis, which I specifically tailor to your needs and concerns.  My work is fully focused on our relationship and you as an individual.

I offer an initial assessment for us both the opportunity to meet and discuss your difficulties and for you to gain a sense in if I am the right person for you. Sessions can be short or long term, where you can talk freely at your own pace in a safe, non judgmental and confidential setting.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
