Community Counselling Service
We have over 20 years’ experience of providing training and support services for adults and young people in community based settings.
Our Counselling Service is aimed at people who may be struggling to access mental health services due to long waiting lists, language and cultural barriers, lack of mobility or other reason. We offer face-to-face counselling in a safe environment which allows you to sort out your thoughts and feelings, without being judged, and to discover better ways of coping with your situation.
We can offer a choice of male or female counsellor and a bilingual counsellor, if English is not your first language. Counselling sessions are normally arranged on weekly basis, although this can be negotiated to suit specific requirements. We can offer counselling either from our offices at Oakland House or another venue closer to your home. In some cases, we can provide home counselling if you are unable to travel due to health reasons.
Training, qualifications & experience
Our team includes counsellors with Advanced Diploma in Counselling, Supervision and Training.
Each counsellor has access to an independent supervisor and is required to work within BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice. We also provide placements for trainee Counsellors who work under close supervision of a qualified supervisor. You will be told if a trainee is allocated to work with you.
