Clodagh Boyd Adv. Dip Couns, MBACP
As your counsellor
I want to provide you with a warm, safe and supportive space where your concerns and anxieties can be explored in a sensitive, thoughtful and imaginative way. I will take the time to properly assess what is causing you to feel stressed, anxious or depressed and together we’ll look at how this is affecting your well-being and the impact on your life. I know from experience the importance of having someone who can listen attentively and intelligently to what you are saying and who is committed to helping you to start to see things from a different perspective, to finding greater clarity and to find ways to turn things around.
What I can help with
At different points in our lives we may find that we simply aren’t coping or living our lives in the way we want to. We may be facing big life changes such as a death, a relationship break up or a crisis with our career or at work. Or we may be living with the affects of emotional, physical or sexual abuse, leading to self-harm, depression and a sense of hopelessness. We may be struggling with low self-esteem or questioning our identity and sexuality giving rise to a lack of confidence or social anxiety and depression.
Or it may be fear that's blocking our path to achieving what we want, a fear of failure, fear of rejection or a fear of not meeting another's expectations or being crushed by the weight of our own unrealistic demands. We may be repeating self-destructive patterns of behaviour and long to break out of this but fear taking the steps in order for this to happen.
Whatever it is you are dealing with or going through and whatever is causing you to be unhappy or distressed my overriding priority is to offer you the support and help you need to re-connect with your own ability to affect the changes you need in your life. I will work with you to put in place the inner resources needed to increase self-esteem and feelings of self-worth.
I view each person as a unique and complex human being taking into account all of who you are, your life in the present, the affects on you from past experiences and any future hopes, dreams and desires. The relationship between us is at the centre of the work and building trust and rapport are essential to positive outcomes.
As an Integrative Counsellor I draw on different schools of thought and will work with you in a way that reflects your particular needs and goals. The core approach to my work is based on Humanistic and Psychodynamic principles and I draw on elements from Attachment Theory, CBT, Gestalt, TA, Life Coaching and Transpersonal therapies.
I see people in a comfortable and private space in Camden North West London, this central location means it is well serviced by all forms of public transport and only minutes away from the Overground and Underground stations.
