Profile
My aim as an Integrative counsellor is to offer you a place where you can explore and discuss your life and yourself and how you are feeling and reacting to life's experiences. Talking about our difficulties in this way can help us to make sense of them and move on.
I have recently moved to Dorset but have extensive experience working in Somerset. My counsellling approach is Integrative, incorporating Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) and Transpersonal theories of counselling.
As an Integrative counsellor, I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is extremely important.
I also believe that our environment in early childhood shapes our development and that our earliest experienced can affect how we think and behave in our adult life.
We will work together to find a way of working which is best suited to you, either short term, solution focused counselling or more long term therapy.
I believe that if we are given the opportunity of reflection and exploration, it is possible to discover our own resources and to work towards a life that is more fulfilling and authentic.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Bath Spa University and I am finishing my MA degree in Counselling and Professional Studies at Bath Spa University.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework.
During my training and after qualifying as an Integrative Counsellor, I have worked for the NHS in a variety of Doctors' surgeries and medical centres throughout Somerset.
I have also worked for MIND in Taunton and for the Matrix Project, a low-cost counselling charity in Yeovil.
I now work in private practice at The Trinity Practice in Shaftesbury. I also work as an associate counsellor for an Employee Assistance Programme, which offers counselling to people in the workplace.
