About me

I regret I have very limited availability at present. I hope you can find what you’re looking for elsewhere.

I offer professional, confidential counselling, psychotherapy, supervision and EMDR in Luton and surrounding areas.

Everyone experiences difficulties and challenges at times in life, sometimes talking to friends or family provides what we need, however, there are times when talking therapy can help.

I offer private counselling & psychotherapy to talk and explore issues and difficulties that may be present for you in a comfortable and private setting conveniently located in a residential area of Luton. I also offer outdoor sessions where nature becomes a part of the experience too.

I have a UKCP Supervision Diploma and enjoy working with supervisees in a collaborative and supportive way.

I also offer EMDR therapy, a NICE recommended treatment for working with trauma which can be particularly effective with issues such as PTSD and experiences that feel 'unresolved' in one way or another.

I am located within easy reach of the M1, A6 & A505 providing ready access from Luton and surrounding areas, including Harpenden, Hitchin and Mid Beds.

I have experience in dealing with a wide range of issues ranging from relationship difficulties, wounds from the past and distressing life events. Take a look around my website or contact me for further information.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training

I gained an MA & Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling at the Minster Centre, London, the UK’s leading integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling Training Institute.

It is important to me to keep up to date with current practice and developing ideas and I regularly attend training and professional development opportunities with this in mind.

EMDR

EMDR is a NICE recommended therapy for working with trauma and PTSD. I am an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and offer EMDR alongside other ways of working. Linking in to the brain's capacity to process information and experience in different ways, EMDR is a gentle and effective way of addressing issues that may be more difficult to access through other forms of therapy and is particularly helpful when working with traumatic experiences.

Professional membership & experience

I am a fully accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I abide by their ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.

I have a particular interest in working with professionals and have previously worked in the University of Cambridge Staff Counselling Service.

Alongside my private practice I work with a local community counselling service in Hitchin and had several years of experience working with a low-cost therapy service for clients in North London as well as in a University student counselling service.

I also teach at post graduate level and have a special interest in working with trauma.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I offer both short and long term counselling and psychotherapy.

Some people want to make changes in their lives at a deep level and examine fundamental patterns and relationships. Long term psychotherapy has a focus on finding a deeper understanding of relationships with ourselves, our bodies, others and the world around us.

For others, there is a short term focus for those with a specific issue to address.

I have specific training and a developing interest in working with trauma, both developmental and PTSD.
