About me

Hello I'm Claire, I work within 'A New Day Counselling Practice' and I am a fully qualified, professional and experienced Counsellor offering a comprehensive, accessible and flexible service across private and commercial settings.

My approach to counselling is primarily Person-Centred. However, knowledge gained through further training, including humanistic, psychodynamic, C.B.T. and group therapies, enables me to support an integrated relationship focussed on the individual client’s needs and expectations.

My counselling experience includes working with clients who have shared a range of issues, including anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, relationships, domestic abuse, sexual/incest abuse, eating disorders, self harm, parenting, disability discrimination, cultural difference, loneliness, work related problems and many other concerns.

My aim as a counsellor is to provide a safe and supportive environment built on trust, mutuality, respect, in a non-judgemental manner and offering empathy to all my clients. Given the right environment I will facilitate you to explore your experiences and gain a greater understanding which may lead to increased clarity and the identification of choices and possibilities. I will work with you to explore your individual needs and requirements, at your own pace, respecting your autonomy and abiding by the ethics and principles of my profession and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

As a member of the BACP I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure.  I access regular independent Supervision in accordance with BACP guidelines, to ensure I am always working within the very best interests of my clients.

My premises are offered in safe and comfortable settings, in Dinnington. I am also able to offer workplace counselling within Employers premises.

I can be contacted by email.

Or by telephone:

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
