Hello and a very warm welcome to my profile. When there is something on your mind that just doesn't seem to go away and it has begun to impact on your every day life, accessing counselling can be the first step to working through what is important to you right now. This could be anything, it could be a specific problem that you can identify but are not sure what to do with your thoughts or feelings, or it may be something from your past that has resurfaced and is impacting on your relationships with friends and family. You may be recently bereaved, been abused, harming yourself, experiencing feelings of anxiety and stress or having feelings of anger, guilt or shame. Whatever you are feeling together we can get to the heart of what is going on for you and work towards a solution.
I am an experienced, professional qualified therapeutic counsellor and am able to offer empathic and confidential sessions either in my comfortable therapy room in the centre of Newark or in the privacy of your own home. I will not judge you; I will be supportive and accepting of you no matter what your story. I will commit to the entire counselling journey wherever it leads us and am happy to offer short or long term support. I will be guided by you and I trust in your judgment to know what is right for you.
Counselling should not be about giving advice but about the client and counsellor bullding an open, honest and trusting therapeutic relationship where you will feel safe, accepted and not judged. I will listen to you and together we can explore, in your own time, the issues that are important to you.
Although counselling does not come with any guarantees, having had a personal and positve outcome to my own experience of counselling, I am passionate in my belief that counselling can work no matter how difficult things may feel right now. I am a therapist who is open, down-to-earth, genuine and trustworthy and who is totally committed to ethical practice and continuing professional development supported by regular supervision
I am now offering one to one person-centred supervision to both student and qualified counsellors. I work within the guidelines of the BACP ethical framework and have on going training to ensure I am working safely and ethically in order to provide you the opportunity for personal and professional growth. I don't pretend to know everything about supervising as I am learning all the time, but anything I'm not sure about Iwill research and check out with my own supervisor before feeding it back to you. We will work together to ensure best practice and outcomes which could include enhancing self-awareness, increasing and developing your knowledge and skills. We can achieve this by building a relationship in which you should feel supported and encouraged to develop into a reflective practitioner. All of these help to monitor and safeguard the interests of the client.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, hold an enhanced CRB certificate and am fully insured.
