About me

Hello,

I have an advanced diploma in Emotional Therapeutic Counselling and have been practising for several years at Quayside Well-being at the docks in Gloucester and now also at Newent Osteopaths. During Covid times I took my practice online and also offered a phone service, all of which I still offer now.

A lot of my work has been and is with clients who have low self esteem, which can also lead to anxiety and depression. I take great pleasure in helping my clients to grow in self confidence and self acceptance. However , over the years I have supported clients with many different issues as we never know what life may throw at us and the challenges we may face.

Everybody can benefit from therapy. You can learn so much about yourself and learn to make decisions which are right for you, trusting your own instinct.I also recommend it for anyone wanting to start a family as it is in the early years when patterns and beliefs are formed that can make such a big difference to our adult lives.

The type of counselling I offer takes you on a journey of self discovery. I have faced many difficulties and challenges in my life but believe this is how we grow as human beings, in fact I believe this makes me a better counsellor.

I use various  'tools' to find answers to the issues causing you concern. This maybe in the form of self reflection, dreams, visualisations and written exercises, creative art and inner child work to name but a few.We are all different and so we all work differently. I will go at your pace as sometimes finding out about oneself or experiencing things from the past can be hard but believe me in the long term it is very rewarding and freeing as you will start to be in control of your behaviour and life choices.

I have also counselled  clients with the following issues : bullying, child abuse, infertility, divorce, stress, adoption,  abortion,  ADHD, culture and religious differences in families, addictions,  sexuality and gender identity,  self-harm, loss and bereavement, unemployment, intense anger, illness (particularly cancer) loneliness, intrusive thoughts and abusive relationships.

I am particularly interested in helping people to reconnect with themselves which could have been lost or indeed never have  been found.

I offer a free 15/20 minute call to see if we are a good fit.

It can be hard to ask for help especially if we are used to coping on our own and see it as a weakness. But in reality it takes courage to take this step and actually a sign that you matter, and that you want to invest in yourself and so value yourself. If nothing changes you will stay stuck in the same situation or 'feeling.'

I am also an experienced and qualified aromatherapist. I know how much our thoughts and emotions affect the body, mind and spirit.

"Thank you for everything you have done and are doing for me. I can't express how much I appreciate it." (one happy client)

I have had a mixture of both male and female clients of various ages from late teens to sixties, from various backgrounds and nationalities.

We work together to discover what is stopping you from living the life you want. It could be events from the past, negative behaviour patterns and low self worth.

I use different 'tools' if I think they can help explore an emotion to gain insights.

You will also need to engage in the process to make real progress.

I may use: Visualisations, dreams, inner child work, crystals, art work, CBT exercises and work sheets, letter writing and more experimental exercises.

I work practice at Quayside Well-being at Gloucester Docks and also at my home in Newent.

Zoom and phone sessions are also available.
