About me

I am a BACP member. I was registered with UKCP but my membership has lapsed.

I am very aware of the kind of pressures that people of all ages and backgrounds have to deal with every day. Each individual experiences life differently, and often have limited choices and problems both with their most intimate relationships and with much more global issues.  I try to help people become more self-empowered and to understand the context, meaning and repeated patterns in their lives, in order to make the best choices and take the best actions they can. I  am a creative and empathic integrative counsellor with ten years of experience as a counsellor in private practice, and working for specialist counselling services. I have worked with very many issues, and with people with mental health, learning, ASD, emotional/behavioural and physical difficulties. I have worked with children as an advocate, special needs teacher and as a counsellor. I can combine emotional and educational support for your child. I have worked with children and young people with moderate learning difficulties, autism, severe learning difficulties, mental health difficulties, specific learning difficulties, and emotional/behavioural issues, for over forty years.

I am able to help support families, to assess children's difficulties and needs, and provide both short-term and long-term support to my clients.

I have experience of counselling adults, both on a short-term basis and for much longer periods of time, and I have extensive experience of couples counselling.

I am also a counselling supervisor.

I use art therapy, play therapy, maps, metaphors, symbols and writing, as well as traditional 'talking' therapy', including CBT, DBT, Existential, psychodynamic and person-centred counselling in my practice.

I offer a safe, friendly environment, a pro-active and genuine counselling style, and opportunities for low-cost counselling and sliding scale of fees, at my home in Suffolk.

I have started to offer Japanese forest bathing, and blue space therapy to my practice, in which myself and my client walk in peaceful environments (weather permitting!) Walking is a mindful activity and a situation in which a safe, therapeutic relationship can thrive.

I am also happy to telephone counsel and to counsel families where appropriate.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at Matrix College of Integrative Counselling and have a diploma and an advanced diploma/BSC degree in Integrative Counselling, I have a background in teaching and the arts, and have worked with every possible age group, including children, presenting many different issues, and many of whom have disabilities or disadvantages.

I have been working as a private counsellor for many years and have specialised in working with people who have been, or are being, abused, physically, sexually, emotionally or mentally, people with eating disorders, people with depression and/or significant mental health issues, but have also counselled about many other issues.

I have attended many courses, including sandtray therapy, play therapy, arts therapies, safeguarding, Gestalt, and many more.
I am a qualified counselling supervisor and have worked in schools, charitable organisations and for employee assisted programmes as a counsellor for adults, young people, children, families and couples.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
