Claire Ellis (Level 7 Dip Counselling) BACP Registered
9 Upper King Street
Hello my name is Claire. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor based in Leicester city center and am an Individual Registered Member with the BACP.
I am passionate about helping people to talk and explore any difficulties they feel they are experiencing and believe we all have a need to feel heard and feel accounted.
The space I offer is safe, comfortable, confidential and a non-judgmental environment, where we can develop a trusting therapeutic relationship for you to explore, talk and be yourself.
My training is in various models such as Transactional Analysis and Attachment based therapy, however I am a client-focused therapist, which permits you to direct which type of therapy you may feel you require, say for example, a goal-oriented therapy, which facilitates you to unravel and identify current issues concerning dysfunctional thoughts, emotions and behaviours or you may require exploring past experiences, which are preventing you moving forward or future-focused practice with the aim of facilitating you to determine and achieve personal goals, interests and objectives.
I’ve chosen this approach as I believe building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the foundation of our work together, that we are all unique and no one model fits all.
I was introduced to counselling through my own experience of encountering difficulties in my life, the more I learnt about myself the more my mental health improved. The models and theories of counselling enthralled me so my journey evolved and I have never looked back.
Counselling is not telling you what to do. It is a journey of joint exploration of the issues; a dynamic therapeutic relationship that gives space for you to express yourself without fear of judgment whilst you develop insights that can alleviate your painful feelings.
I offer sessions to individuals or couples. The initial session is an opportunity for me to learn a little about you and your expectations of counselling and for you to gain some understanding of what you can expect from me. It is an opportunity for us both to decide if we feel that we can work together and if indeed I am the right counsellor for you
Life can be a challenge at times. Once you have made the choice to seek counselling, sourcing a therapist can present its own issues; if you have 'Any' questions please feel free to contact me...
