Claire Darlington, Dip.Couns, Bsc.
I am a Person Centred Counsellor based in Whitefield, Manchester offering face-to-face and telephone counselling. I offer counselling to anyone aged 16 years old and over.
My journey started soon after completing my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, when I began volunteering as a Facilitator for a drop-in group focusing on Social Phobia and Anxiety. I soon realised my passion was working with people and that I wanted to do this on a one-to-one basis. I have gained experience in working with clients from various age groups and with a range of well-being needs. I am passionate about the Person Centred Approach and believe we all have the ability to help ourselves, we just might need support when looking for the key.
As part of my own personal development I have engaged in counselling for myself and so have my own personal insight and understanding as to the benefits of working with a Person Centred Counsellor. It is not simply the benefit of having someone listen to you, it is being given the opportunity to have empathic understanding of your own experiences, being shown a 'magic mirror' that will open up new insights into your behaviour. Even as a trained counsellor, I found the thought of taking that first step intimidating, and the experience itself a rollercoaster of emotions, yet I wouldn't be who I am if I hadn't jumped on board.
If you feel you need help with anxiety, bereavement, depression, low self esteem, mental health, recovery from past abuse, relationship issues or stress give me a call. I know as well as you do that taking that first step can be the hardest thing, but if you think you may be ready, give me a ring and start that journey.
