Looking for something different? Stuck in a rut, or is there something missing in your life?
I specialise in helping people to make the changes they need to achieve new goals.
Maybe you are experiencing job-related stress, relationship problems, or are simply feeling unfulfilled?
I can help you realise your potential and get you moving on the right track.
I work with adults – individuals as well as couples. I firmly believe that every person’s situation is unique, and, with the right guidance and support, they each have the ability to change and fully resolve their problems.
I will provide a safe and non-judgemental environment, ideally suited for us to explore the issues affecting you. I will support you every step of the way so that you can develop the inner resources you need to change and move forward.
I have particular experience in the following areas:
- Stress & depression.
- Abuse issues.
- Confidence & self-esteem.
- Couples counselling.
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Anger management.
However, this list is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether I can help with your particular issue please do contact me to discuss it. In the unlikely event that I am unable to help you myself, I will be happy to assist you in finding the right service elsewhere.
About my work:
Counselling is not just about talking. I am a therapist who can work with you in a variety of ways. For example, in cases of social-anxiety, I might work outdoors with a client; going out shopping with them and gradually encouraging them to be more confident & independent, and able to deal with people and unexpected situations in public. Or when working with a person with trauma from their past, I may use visualisation techniques to help them confront their fears head-on, in order to overcome them. I have developed an array of techniques to quickly and directly tackle the issues that are currently affecting you.
I work in an integrative way with my clients, using Humanistic, Solution Focussed Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I will work with you to determine the issues that are holding you back, ready for a tailor-made plan, specific to your needs, that will assist you to change whatever is necessary to happily move forwards and successfully achieve your goals.
We will work in a dynamic way to effectively identify your key issues, and match them to ideas and practical solutions that you can immediately act upon.
I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. You can contact me by phone, text or email. Due to the nature of my work I cannot always answer my phone straight away, but please do leave me a message and your number, and I will get back to you within 24 hours.
I work purely on a home-visit basis. I have found that clients make better progress, and see improvements faster, when our work together takes place in an environment that is comfortable and familiar to them. I have worked very successfully in this way because it:
- Is flexible & convenient, and fits easily in with people’s busy schedules
- Provides increased privacy & discretion, and prevents people seeing each other in waiting rooms etc.
- Empowers clients to feel more in control of their therapy.
Anxiety & Phobias - Clients with anxiety related disorders benefit from being able to relax in the comfort of their own home, avoiding the additional stress of travelling to an office on public transport, or having the worry of finding a parking space etc. This helps to reduce their sense of panic, and enables treatment-focused sessions with a minimum of distractions.
Depression - Clients with depression related disorders don’t have to battle against their symptoms to get dressed, leave the house, and travel. Many clients with depression struggle to attend appointments on a regular basis, and I’ve found that by visiting them, they are better able to engage with our work and see results.
Couples & Families – The couples that I work with find that they benefit from discussing and resolving their relationship matters in the privacy of their home environment, which is often where their problematic issues arise. It also enables family counselling to quite naturally take place, if it becomes apparent that this would be beneficial.
