About me

Welcome.

I am a qualified Integrative Psychosynthesis Counsellor working in private practice in Enfield, North London.

I work with adults on an individual basis and with a wide range of issues. I work integratively, which means I draw on different approaches depending on your needs.

Integrative Psychosynthesis emphasises both the depths and heights of human experience and integrates theory and methods from the Jungian, Psychodynamic and Gestalt schools of Psychotherapy. The approach combines a soulful perspective with a down to earth philosophy.

What happens in a session will vary according to your needs.

We may simply spend time talking and being with your current difficulties/distress. We may explore the past. We may look at what stops you making changes you would like to make in your life. You may have habits in your physical behaviour or in your ways of relating to others that cause you distress and yet you seem unable to change.

You may be suffering the loss of or difficulties in a relationship, or have a difficult decision to make. You may be feeling depressed, lonely, isolated, experiencing an emotional or spiritual crisis, or general unhappiness with your life.

We will work with whatever you bring to the session and I will hold a safe, supporting, non judgmental space for you to explore your feelings.

Sometimes, simply being able to tell our story and be listened to is enough.
At other times deeper exploration of our pain is necessary.

About my approach

I may suggest using some of the tools of Integrative Psychosynthesis such as inner dialogue, subpersonality work, working with images and symbols through visualisation, dreams, art work or journal keeping. If you suffer with depression or anxiety,I may suggest working with Mindfulness practices to support you. I also use CBT.You are free to accept or reject my suggestions. Only you can decide what works for you.I will do everything I can to support you in finding what works for you.

Our relationship is an important part of counselling and we may spend time looking at what arises between us.

I may offer a soul perspective to help you make meaning of your suffering and support you on a journey towards understanding, wisdom and self knowledge.

Fees

I offer an introductory session at a reduced fee of £25 which gives us an opportunity to meet. You can get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you may have. You can also call me and speak on the phone before booking an appointment.

If you decide after meeting that you would like to have some counselling sessions, we will find a regular time and day to meet each week. Further sessions will be prices at £40. I offer some low cost spaces - these may be time limited.

I usually suggest we start with six sessions and then review. You may wish to stop at this point or arrange another set of six sessions or commit to open ended work.

Sessions are usually once a week but there may be occasions when twice weekly sessions are helpful.

On a final note...

I am deeply committed to my own personal and spiritual healing and growth. Over the past 20 years I have participated in many workshops, retreats and personal therapy. I bring all of this experience to my work with clients.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their code of ethics.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
