About me

Hello my name is Cindy Afflick I work as a private practitioner in South London.  I am  integrative Intercultural Counsellor.  I also have years of experience working  therapeutically in GP surgeries, Employment assisted program,  Victim Support Agency and Secondary Schools.

We don’t always know how to reach out , have the time to, know where to turn and what exactly, it is that we need   Whether the problem stems from our past or our present day experiences finding a safe space to express ourselves , offload , release,  or just let out is hard to come by.

There are some things in life that are easy for us to manage, be in control of and  other things which are overwhelming even debilitating that we need some other type of support.  Sometimes there are things we just want to explore.

Every person is unique, regardless. My work is tailored to suit different people and the different issues that they.I work with a diverse range of client and with a broad range of therapeutic styles, tools and techniques to explore problems expressed and experienced by you.

Getting Started

The first step you can take is to send me an email or telephone (details below) to arrange an initial contact for a brief phone call or 35 mins assessment session (£35)   This would be a time where you can talk about what problem you would like to explore and ask any questions about what you might expect from sessions.  The assessment session also gives you a chance to voice any concerns and see if the style of therapy is what you need.   If you feel happy to continue we can then arrange to book more session in (on a weekly bases).

How can I help?

In our time together I facilitate and support  wellbeing in a challenging but mindful way.  I provide a friendly  warm safe space for the dialog that people want to have.

A little more about me

I have worked in community Arts with different types of community groups in the UK and abroad using drama techniques to explore themes over thirty years.

I have a working knowledge of mental health issues and have volunteered with a charity that supports people with challenging wellbeing needs.  I have created and provided drama workshops on self esteem for people with lived experiences. I  previously  befriended with NHS Slam.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
