About me
I continue to offer video counselling, which can be set up very easily. It is also possible for us to meet face to face.
If you think you may need therapy, you are not alone. At times, we are all faced with confusing or painful situations, struggles with relationships, feelings of dissatisfaction, confusion, low self-esteem, anxiety, stress or depression, painful losses, traumatic or unhappy memories, difficult decisions or the need for change. I can help you to explore your difficulties and provide you with the support you need to find your own answers.
Everyone has the capacity to cope with crisis, resolve problems, develop personal insight and make decisions, but having support and encouragement when the going gets tough can make a huge difference.
I will offer you a safe, confidential and supportive space where you can talk about what you are experiencing and how you are feeling. I will help you to identify choices, solutions or changes that you may want to make. I will not analyse you, judge you or try to impose my values and beliefs on you. I will offer you my attention, respect and respect your individuality.
I am fully qualified and registered by the UKCP, which requires a considerably higher level of training and experience than BACP Accreditation. After qualifying as a counsellor, I trained for 5 more years and gained a Masters Degree in psychotherapy. I have more than 20 years experience offering counselling and/or psychotherapy to individuals and couples. I'm registered with BUPA but the majority of my clients are self-funded.

With over 20 years experience in a variety of settings, including voluntary, NHS, University and private practice, I have worked with a range of clients aged 17 to 70+.
Your needs will set the agenda for our work. I do not specialise in particular problems so will work with you on whatever you choose to explore. That may include relationship issues, depression, mental illness, anxiety, stress, work-based problems, bereavement and loss, low self-esteem, life changes, personal development or any other issue that troubles you.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information
Appointments last for 50 minutes and are usually weekly, at a regular day and time. It's difficult to know in advance how long counselling or psychotherapy will take. Usually a minimum of six sessions are required although many clients prefer to work for longer. The cost of individual sessions is £60 and couples £75.

Daytime and evenings Monday to Friday. Currently my office is closed but I can offer online video sessions using WhatsApp, Skype or Zoom

I am a fully trained Counsellor and UKCP Registered Psychotherapist (Registration number 5157185) (BACP require 450 hours training (to Diploma level) and 450 hours experience for accreditation, whereas UKCP require a Masters level training, psychiatric placement and 750 hours experience) I have been UKCP registered since 2005 and have completed more than 7,500 client hours to date (December 2021)
