I recognise that it can be really hard to take that initial step towards coming for counselling and hope that by comparing each counsellor's profile on the Counselling Directory, it will help you to make the right choice for you. Like most people coming to counselling for the first time, you will probably have questions that you would like to ask and that's okay. At our initial assessment session you will have the opportunity to talk in a confidential space about what is troubling you and together we will decide whether or not to go ahead with counselling. There is no obligation to continue.
The most important part of the counselling process is developing a trusting relationship with your therapist, where you feel comfortable enough to share difficult thoughts and feelings. I will listen sensitively and respectfully to your concerns and help you to gently work through any underlying issues. This process can offer you fresh insight and can help you to make alternative choices about the way forward.
