I am an experienced therapist, working with individuals of all ages. I provide a welcoming and warm space to allow you to explore any difficult issues you may be experiencing.
In an ideal world most people would prefer be able to process everything they are going through on their own, or with a close friend or family member. Sometimes, this isn't possible however, and seeking the assistance of a trained, experienced and accountable professional can be the next logical step. This of course can be a scary process! I feel it is important that you are able to find the right therapist for you, as I believe this will help you to feel the appropriate benefits of therapy. In light of this I offer a free initial meeting, lasting anywhere up to an hour, where my aim is to help you feel at ease in the therapy room, and for you to consider whether you would like us to work together going forwards.
For me, success in counselling usually comes when clients are helped to develop possible options for moving forward in life, rather than being told what they should do. It’s my strong belief that a client will not only bring the issues that concern them, but that they also hold the solution, somewhere inside, to help get the results they want and that work for them. The key to achieving these results is the depth of working relationship that is able to be constructed between the counsellor and the client. I'm a firm believer in working hard to build an effective counsellor/client relationship.
I work from an integrative perspective, which means my work encompasses a wide area of skills. In the main, my approach will be to actively listen to you without being judgmental, and encourage you to talk freely about your thoughts and feelings. I will feed my responses back to you, raising your awareness of your situation. It is through this awareness that you will more clearly see the choices you have and be able to identify more readily a possible solution, or way forward, that feels right for you. At all times, my clients are the experts when it comes to themselves, I help provide the space for them to work through that expertise.
I have experience in working with a wide range of clients, of all ages, backgrounds, and histories. If you would like to have a chat about how we can work together. Please do get in touch.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 10 years experience of working in conflict resolution settings, both with individuals and management teams. The team work was based around helping them to understand why their team functions like it does, and to help reveal communication solutions to them. For individuals, I worked to help them acheive significant business goals that might not normally come naturally to them.
Also, I have worked extensively with young people in a variety of settings, whether it be schools or youth projects.
I also have spent time working with ex-offenders in a therapeutic environment, helping to facilitate positive change.
I have worked extensively with behavioural management systems in the past, yet felt there was always something more relational that could be achieved with my clients. This thought process led me to counselling training where I have obtained the following qualifications:
Adv Dip Integrative Counselling
Certificate in Counselling
I am able to draw on a large area of skills and expertise thanks to my training and experience, however my client will always be the expert on themselves in the therapy room. My role is to release that untapped process!

Counselling is a journey which offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk to someone who is trained to listen and help you, a place to talk about yourself and your life. At Cornerstone we make it our aim to focus on you throughout your journey.
If you've had counselling before, we trust you will encounter a refreshing experience with us here at Cornerstone. We provide a space away from everyday life where you can pause, reflect, and deal with whatever is on your mind.
We understand that people at first can be uncomfortable with the thought that they need counselling, so you are not alone if you feel like this. But it is very difficult to clearly evaluate what is going on in your life when you sit within the situation, and talking to a professional counsellor can help you find a solution to your problem.
Cornerstone is a friendly and approachable counselling organisation based in Wellington, close to the Devon/Somerset border, and within easy reach of Junction 26 of the M5.
