As a counsellor, I am here to provide a safe space to help you overcome the various hurdles that life may currently be throwing at you.
I am a qualified and registered counsellor with the BACP (they are our professional body). I view my clients non-judgementally and will provide you with the space you need to explore your internal process. No two clients are the same. My counselling skills and experience enable me to tailor our sessions to ensure we are fully focused on you, and your therapy goals.
I believe that within themselves everybody has the capacity to change - you just have to want to. Engaging with a counsellor is an important step in this!
If you are going through something in your life and you are struggling to process it, why not get in touch and see if I can help?
Why I became a counsellor
I began training as a counsellor following 15 years of experience working with individuals and teams in a behavioural environment.
I have worked with a variety of people during this time, from senior managers and business owners to retired folk and teenagers, from ex-offenders to police officers. I enjoyed the relational depth that came from this work, and I wanted to enhance my skills in order to be able to help people on a more emotional level.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 15 years experience of working in conflict resolution settings, both with individuals and management teams. The team work was based around helping them to understand why their team functions like it does, and to help reveal communication solutions to them. For individuals, I worked to help them acheive significant business goals that might not normally come naturally to them.
Also, I have worked extensively with young people in a variety of settings, whether it be schools or youth projects.
I also have spent time working with ex-offenders in a therapeutic environment, helping to facilitate positive change.
I have worked extensively with behavioural management systems in the past, yet felt there was always something more relational that could be achieved with my clients. This thought process led me to counselling training where I have obtained the following qualifications:
Adv Dip Integrative Counselling
Certificate in Counselling
I am able to draw on a large area of skills and expertise thanks to my training and experience, however my client will always be the expert on themselves in the therapy room. My role is to release that untapped process!

Counselling is a journey which offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk to someone who is trained to listen and help you, a place to talk about yourself and your life. At Cornerstone we make it our aim to focus on you throughout your journey.
If you've had counselling before, we trust you will encounter a refreshing experience with us here at Cornerstone. We provide a space away from everyday life where you can pause, reflect, and deal with whatever is on your mind.
We understand that people at first can be uncomfortable with the thought that they need counselling, so you are not alone if you feel like this. But it is very difficult to clearly evaluate what is going on in your life when you sit within the situation, and talking to a professional counsellor can help you find a solution to your problem.
Cornerstone is a friendly and approachable counselling organisation based in Wellington, close to the Devon/Somerset border, and within easy reach of Junction 26 of the M5.
