About me

Hi, I'm Chloe, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with nearly 15 years' experience working in adult mental health. I specialise in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), working with high achieving individuals experiencing stress or burnout. Other related areas of expertise include - but are not limited to - anxiety disorders (e.g. generalised anxiety/worry, panic, health anxiety, social anxiety), perfectionism, depression, and low self-esteem.

My depth of experience – including having held a Senior Psychologist role in the NHS – means that I am able to practice in a flexible way that works for you in order to help you reach your goals.

I stay at the forefront of clinical practice and use a range of therapies, including CBT, to work with people who are struggling with psychological difficulties – from severe and complex mental health problems, to those who simply want to understand themselves better. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a central component of successful therapy, which is why I provide a warm, supportive, non-judgemental space to help you feel at ease. We will work together to come to a shared understanding of your difficulties in order to improve your psychological wellbeing, reduce distress, and make meaningful changes in your life. I am able to offer both short and longer term psychological therapy depending on your needs.

In addition to offering appointments at my clinic in Farnham on a Monday evening, I can also offer video therapy via a secure video link at various times during the week. Please contact me if you would like further details.

Approach

I provide an integrated approach to therapy as I believe that no one model of therapy can fit everyone all of the time. The main approach I use is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), however, I also utilise ideas from third wave approaches including mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy. I work closely with people to identify unhelpful patterns that might be contributing to their difficulties, and strategies to cope with them.

Finding the right therapist for you might seem like a daunting task, so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch and I'd be happy to discuss these with you.

If you decide to start therapy we would agree on a therapy plan, including your goals, the number of sessions, and the responsibilities we have towards each other. Sessions last for 50 minutes, usually weekly.

Training, qualifications & experience

I worked in the NHS for over a decade, most recently as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in an Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. Prior to this, I was based in a secondary care community mental health team working with adults with a wide range of severe and enduring psychological difficulties. In my private work I offer short and long term individual therapy, and also offer supervision to other therapists to help them develop their practice. I have also maintained my links with the NHS by facilitating training courses on various mental health topics to NHS teams across the country.

I hold the protected title of Clinical Psychologist and am governed by the HCPC, the only legally-recognised body for counselling and psychotherapy. I hold a Chartered status with the British Psychological Society, reflecting the highest standard of psychological knowledge and expertise.

Testimonials

"I had never had any therapy before and was nervous about starting, but Chloe made me feel completely at ease from the beginning and constantly adapted the sessions so we were working at a pace I felt comfortable with. I felt that Chloe really listened to what I wanted to get out of therapy and all of the sessions were tailored to achieving those goals. I'm blown away by how much these therapy sessions have helped me in such a short amount of time, and I'd definitely recommend Chloe to anyone who's looking to start therapy. She's made a huge impact on my life!"

"My experience of therapy was better than I ever expected. I have had therapy with many professionals over the years and none have been as insightful, thorough, organised, or effective as Chloe. Before therapy, the majority of my mental energy was consumed by worry, and I was unable to enjoy life. I am now able to live life to the full and can genuinely say that I feel happy for the first time in a long while... Contrary to therapy I have had before, each session with Chloe was well structured, with clear goals outlined, progress measured and weekly homework. Ideas and concepts were introduced methodically and appropriately, and I understood at all times the purpose of the sessions and what we were working towards. Now that therapy is over I am confident that I can maintain my new, improved mental state by drawing on the knowledge, techniques and insights that I have learned. I am extremely grateful to Chloe and feel lucky to have found a therapist who has been able to improve my life so dramatically. I could not recommend her more highly"

"Chloe was brilliant and always reframed difficult situations in a way that... made me feel heard yet positive"
