Chavala Parker Child & Adolescent Counsellor BSc MSc MBACP
Counselling & Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents / Teenagers & Young Adults in Blackpool & Preston
Hello! My name's Chavala (but lots of people call me Harvie, for short) and I'm a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, specialising in therapeutic work with children and young people. I offer Talking Therapies AND Creative Therapies in the Blackpool and Preston area.
I've been practicing as a full-time Counsellor and Psychotherapist for several years now, offering one-to-one counselling and group counselling across the North-West, counselling for several charities, organisations and children's homes, alongside managing three counselling services. Now I work full-time as a freelance Counsellor, counselling children and young people in all sorts of settings, from schools to children's homes. So, over the years, I've gained extensive experience working with a diverse range of clients and issues.
I have experience working with a wide range of issues, particularly with children and young people, including:
abortion, abuse, addiction, adoption, alopecia, attachment, anger, anorexia nervosa, anxiety disorder, bed-wetting, bereavement, binge eating, bulimia nervosa, bullying, concentration, confidence, depression, domestic violence, fostering, gender issues, identity, loss, night terrors, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, parental separation, phobias, promiscuity, relationships, self-esteem, self harm, sexuality, stealing, stress, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts & truancy.
Sometimes, it's tough for us to talk about difficult experiences and emotions, so (if my clients want to) as well as talking therapies I incorprate creative therapies into our work. This enables people to explore difficult issues without ever really having to talk directly about the issue. This is particularly useful with younger clients.
Working with younger clients on a daily basis, I understand the challenges life throws at them can be unbelievably overwhelming, for them and their family and friends. I receive many calls and emails from parents not knowing what to do or say and where to turn to for support before the circumstance escalates. So, if you're in this position and feel like you may benefit from support for yourself or a loved one, please feel free to get in contact with me and I'll try to help.
