About me

I take an integrative approach to therapy and work predominantly within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach, but also draw on perspectives from other therapies to promote positive change.

The most important aspect of success in counselling is the relationship between us. I tailor the approach to your needs in collaboration with you so that ultimately you can become your own therapist,by applying new skills and techniques to determine positive patterns of thinking and behaving.

I understand that coming for therapy can be a bit scary or daunting, even if you have been before, meeting someone new can be challenging especially if you’re feeling vulnerable or out of sorts. Choosing to come for therapy is about caring for and prioritising your own needs, and allowing yourself time and space to think things through. I can help you cope with those painful feelings and distressing, upsetting thoughts, and together, we will find the solutions that help you.

I have Healthcare Professional recognition and am a recognised provider of medical treatment with VitalityHealth, Cigna and Aetna Global Benefits

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and BACP/PP, and BACP/ CYP

I have worked mainly in the caring professions for over 25 years, including 10 years of helping people with alcohol and substance misuse issues in one-one and group-work capacity

I have worked with children and young people in primary school and secondary school settings in one-one and group-work capacity. I also work with parents who have concerns about their children and help them find the best way to respond to their children.

CBT approach has proven successful in the treatment of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, feeling sad, OCD and phobias. Therapy and counselling, in general, has helped many people with relationship issues, bereavement and loss, alcohol and drug misuse and various unwanted thoughts and feelings.

The combination of CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy(SFBT), mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and  Neuro-linguistic Programming(NLP) provides a caring, positive, motivational approach with practical techniques to call upon in times of crises.
