For individuals with their own issues or couples perhaps with relationship or family difficulties; I offer a discreet and confidential service. Without judging or offering advice I listen to all my client chooses to bring; even those silent moments. Then, together, we begin a process of exploring and understanding any issues that may come to the surface.
The process is known as a Person Centred or Humanistic approach which deepens as a bond of trust and empathy develops between the counsellor and client; a 'Therapeutic Relationship'. It may be painful at times but this has the potential to enable anyone to 'move on'.
It is appreciated that it may not be an easy decision to seek any form of counselling; this in itself may cause anxiety. So, please feel free to contact me to chat and ask any questions you may have before taking further the idea.
If you do decide to make an appointment; each session lasts a maximum of one hour and can be booked at reasonably short notice either by phone, text or email. I can take bookings for evenings, weekends and some weekdays. I offer a choice of two venues in different locations. Home visits are an option.
There is no 'rule book' which governs how many sessions are required, it is up to the client to decide on the number of sessions or frequency (although once a week is recommended). Sometimes one is enough but six to eight sessions is a good average.
My qualifications and experience also enables me to offer a supervision service to established counsellors and to students.
Counselling Supervision sessions may be booked using the above contact details.

I have worked in Private Practice for about ten years and have also worked as a volunteer for various support agencies. This has given me a wide range of experience of working with individuals or couples, all with their unique issues which are brought to counselling.
I feel it is important for counsellors to participate in ongoing training to widen and improve their skills; with this in mind I regularly take part in relevant courses as part of my personal development (CPD)
Being in a caring profession is something I value.
Alongside counselling, I have over twenty years experience connected with social work services supporting adults with learning difficulties or mental health issues.
I have been employed by Moray College on a part-time basis running introductory classes in counselling and; Banff and Buchan College on a part-time basis running classes on introductions to various forms of complementary therapy, especially Reiki.
