Hello I am Cecilia and I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and an experienced Supervisor and Counselling Trainer. Having been qualified as a Counsellor for 15 years I have over 5,000 hours of counselling experience.
I work face to face, on the telephone and on line with adult, teenage and child clients on a short or longer term basis as needed.
I have worked in school settings as a Counsellor with both Primary and High School pupils and I am comfortable working with individuals, families and groups of young people as appropriate.
I have also worked for many years counselling survivors of sexual abuse and assault and have been Clinical Lead for a large Rape Crisis Centre for the past few years.
I offer a safe and secure space for the client to share and explore issues and work out an appropriate way forward that is right for the individual.
I appreciate that it is difficult to select a Counsellor to suit you and I am comfortable to have an extended telephone conversation to discuss the work further and to book just one initial session to assess suitability.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been a qualified counsellor for 15 years and an accredited Counsellor for 5 years. I have also been a qualified Counselling Supervisor for almost 10 years and I have worked consistently with clients and supervises throughout all of that time.
Having originally trained as a Person Centred Counsellor, I am now an eclectic practitioner and utilise Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural, Psychoanalytical and trauma specific approaches to the work as appropriate.
I have experience working with a broad range of presentations including anxiety, depression, self harm, addictions, sexual and psychological abuse, self esteem and relationship issues.
I am specialised in rape and sexual abuse and other trauma related symptoms and am qualified as an EMDR practitioner, a technique which can be used to alleviate Post Traumatic Stress symptoms in some cases. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Psychological Trauma from Chester University.
In addition to working with individual clients, I also have experience of facilitating groups and writing and delivering material for therapeutic group work with children and adults.
