Profile
Sometimes it can seem hard to meet life's challenges and to deal with loss, disappointment and change. As a qualified counsellor, I offer a confidential, safe place to explore concerns, gain insight into behaviour patterns which may no longer be useful and work through issues from the past which are still affecting the present.
My approach
My counselling approach is primarily psychodynamic although I have also been influenced by my original integrative training on which I can draw to further facilitate understanding and empathy.
How counselling can help
The psychodynamic approach involves the client using the sessions and the relationship with the therapist to look at the issues which are important to them, in a non directive, accepting and respectful atmosphere where connections can be made between past events and present concerns. The insight gained can lead to more choice over present behaviour and interpersonal dynamics and can improve relationships and self esteem. It may enable the client to become more resilient when faced with life's inevitable challenges and more creative in finding solutions to them.
