About me

I work from home, in the village of Angmering ... offering Online, telephone and 'Walk and Talk' therapy for potential clients wishing to talk about what it is that is currently making them feel unhappy, sad, confused, bereft, lost, angry or any other emotion that comes to mind.

Often, when we are trying to work things out alone...it can lead to inner turmoil and inner conflict and a sense of feeling 'stuck'... and we can feel unsure which way to turn. Talking really does help with clarification and can bring a sense of ultimate peace... allowing clients to move forward with their life.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am contracted to participate in regular counselling supervision and yearly Continued Personnel Development. I have an interest in art therapy, having spent time in France undergoing some intense training...and I have also had training in Equal Opportunities, Diversity, Safeguarding (Adults and Children)... self-harming, depression and anxiety.

I believe empowerment is 'key' to process and development...and 'trust', 'kindness' and 'acceptance' help to build the foundations of a relationship, at the outset, to work towards creativity...and where change really happens.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained and qualified as a Person Centred Therapist more than 16 years ago ... and have worked in private practice, for MIND and in General Practice in London ... where I have had the privilege of working with people from many different backgrounds and ethnicities ... predominantly many of the African Countries (Nigeria, Somalia, Liberia to name but a few) ... both Eastern and Western Europe and Asia (specifically India, Bangladesh and Pakistan).

I currently work from home .. Online ... on the telephone ... or willing to offer Walk & Talk therapy, which always depends on the weather, of course.

It is my experience, Person Centred Counselling is a collaborative, creative and progressive process ... and I strongly hold the belief we are our 'own experts'.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
