About me

Welcome. ..I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I blend several approaches to counselling, depending on your individual circumstances and experiences, and on what we both feel is most useful for you. I take a holistic approach meaning that I take into account physical, emotional, cognitive and social aspects of well being. . While I prefer to work in the here and now, it is sometimes necessary to explore your past so as to understand  patterns of behaviours and the way you feel about yourself today.

Most people have counselling because they want change in their life, and my role is to help you in this process. I will listen and attempt to understand your experience, without blame or judgement. I'm also ready to both challenge and support you at those times when courage is needed to move forward. I firmly believe in helping you to discover your true self, in finding your own unique resources and in enabling you to develop strategies for coping now and in the future. I won’t claim to have all the answers, or to be an expert on your life, but I'll endeavour to work with you in a way we both agree is likely to help you most.

I have over 13 years experience of helping with issues such as  depression, bereavement, loss, guilt, trauma, low esteem, relationship difficulties, OCD, stress, addiction,  abuse, or simply needing redirection in life.

Anyone can experience the difficult events or phases life throws at us,  and when it feels they can become too much to deal with alone, I am glad to be of help.

I'm excited to say that in 2022 I became an IFS (Internal family systems) practitioner. .Since qualifying in 2009 I have provided counselling within private practice,  within  bereavement charity, as part of an NHS service, and within Rape and sexual assault services.  I have worked with people with a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship difficulties, anger, abuse, identity, , bereavement, and personal growth. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by its ethical framework. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
