Carolyn Turner - Diploma in Integrative Counselling, MBACP
Profile
Hello, and thank you for visiting my page.
Are you experiencing a difficult feeling such as anger, confusion, guilt, stress, panic, anxiety, depression or a sense of loss? Or perhaps things may not feel right in your life at the moment, and you cannot pinpoint why. Or maybe an important relationship feels in crisis?
Talking confidentially with an experienced and accepting counsellor can provide a really helpful space to reflect and work through your situation.
Counselling is an opportunity you might like to take - to set down the load of whatever is troubling you, and for us both to explore it together.
I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental and safe space for my clients. I bring my true self into my counselling, so whilst maintaining professional boundaries and ethics, I am able to connect with my clients on a warm, human level.
I aim to help clients gain a greater awareness of the burdens they carry, and indeed, to recognise their strengths and self-worth. Often with deeper understanding and acceptance comes the potential for change.
I am an integrative counsellor, so several methods inform my practice. My approach relies on a healthy, therapeutic relationship between client and therapist, based on trust. To develop this relationship I never judge my clients. The bonds I form with my clients are the foundation of my work and an essential part of therapy. The work we do together is shaped around each client's personal and evolving needs. I am particularly interested in how our early relationships and experiences shape us as individuals, and also how we often repeat those patterns throughout our lives. I am client-led, so if you are uncomfortable talking about your past, or can't remember it, we can focus on where you are now.
I can meet with you for an initial assessment session, to decide between us if counselling feels right for you. If we decide to proceed, I usually suggest a review after 6 sessions, and then further sessions with 6 weekly reviews as required.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
2006 Certificate in Counselling Skills
2008 Diploma in Integrative Counselling
I have studied for, and have very nearly completed, my BSc in Integrative Counselling
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am bound by their code of ethics.
Continuing my learning and development as an Integrative counsellor is very important to me, and I have previously attended workshops or courses on Couple Counselling, Child Protection and Substance Misuse.
Previously, I have been a counsellor for the organisations Mind and Women's Aid. This experience means I have an increased awareness of how our relationships, past and present, can shape who we are today.
