About me

I am a BACP qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist.   I have been working for over 10 years both employed and also with my own private practice.   I cover Kings Lynn and all the surrounding areas.

My previous employment was for the Charity Mind as a High Intensity Counsellor, who then formed a partnership with the Wellbeing Service, who are part of the NHS.

I have experience of working with depression, stress related issues, (particularly in the work place), physical /psychological/sexual abuse, bereavement, couple counselling and many other areas, a full list of which is outlined below.

Life is not easy and I know how distressing it can be when things become difficult, and how daunting it might feel when having to take that first step in seeking help from a professional.  I therefore work in a friendly, relaxed and approachable manner, ensuring that my client's feel safe and comfortable.

The process of counselling is to enable clients to explore issues in a confidential, non-judgemental and supporting environment. To help come to an understanding and an acceptance as to what has or is happening in their lives, either present or historically, which may be painful and confusing, to look at making any changes clients may want to happen. Working together with my client, towards improving their well-being and thereby enhancing the quality of their life.

I offer an integrative approach to counselling,  which is predominantly person-centred however, I am also trained in a psychodynamic and a CBT approach.

So please call for an initial chat, (and feel free to ask any queries you may have), and following that an appointment can then be made to see if Counselling will suit your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my training in 2005/2006 obtaining a Level 2 and Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills and Theory awarded by the NCFE. I then studied at the University of East Anglia and obtained the Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Dip PC) and then went on to achieve the Advanced Professional Diploma (Ad.Prof.Dip PC).

I also have the following:

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
