Do you feel anxious or stressed? Are you struggling to cope?
Are you considering counselling, but don’t know where to start?
At different times in your life, you can find yourself experiencing a range of difficulties that can affect your relationships, work and the way you feel about yourself. Struggling with these difficulties can lead to anxiety, depression and feelings of sadness and loss. Counselling can help you to find a way through.
Making the first phone call or email to ask for help can be difficult, but I will do all I can to put you at ease.
On our initial consultation, we can talk about what you are going through in a safe, warm environment. On our first appointment we can meet and work out the best way I can guide you to move forward.
I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and accredited member of the BACP. My aim in counselling is to lead you to a reflective and insightful awareness of your issues. As you begin to understand behaviour in the present which often forms a reoccurring pattern from the past, you will be able to change the patterns to stop these developing.
Training, qualifications & experience
Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling.
Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
As an accredited member of BACP we are required to update our training continuously. Therefore I have attended many and various workshops since qualifying.
At present, and for the last 9 years I have been working in Private Practice, using my skills as a counsellor to help bring a very human understanding to people struggling with the difficulties of life and loss. These difficulties can be reflected in their relationships with others, and may form a recurring pattern over time. In addition, I am working for a leading Rape Crisis Centre, since 2011 and have specific training working with women who are dealing with issues related to child sexual abuse; these have included Anxiety, Depression, Dissociation, Trauma, Hyper-vigilance, Self-Harm, Panic Attacks, lack of self-esteem/confidence, safety and trust issues.
For many years I have continued to work with people who have struggled with the loss of a loved one, specifically the loss of a child, and older people having difficulties coming to terms with the loss of a partner, which has often left them with depressive thoughts and feelings.
Although I am trained Psychodynamically, I believe that no two people are alike and tailor the client's needs accordingly, using an intuitive approach. This approach has enabled the experience of working with a diverse cross section of society, ranging from 19 through to 90 years of age, from short to long term and I have felt honored to have been able to support so many individuals.
