41 Bridge Street
Hello, you may feel daunted at coming for counselling but I will treat you with kindness, compassion and respect. I will work with you to find a way that you can live your life now, less encumbered by past or current experiences and also look to the future that is one that you manage and hopefully enjoy.
I do not expect you to talk in detail about your experiences if you choose not to, it’s more about helping you to have insight into your life and to help you move forward.. We often think of trauma as physical abuse, sexual abuse or even PTSD. However there are many forms of trauma that are not as obvious. For example experiencing a traumatic event, bereavement, threats, bullying and intimidation experienced as a child or in adulthood can also result in a trauma and patterns of behaviour, feeling and thinking can be set up for life. Even living in a persistently stressful family situation can cause trauma. Regardless of the type of trauma one experiences, one may be left with a feeling of uncertainty or a lack of control in life, overwhelming feelings and often a lingering depression or sadness that just does not seem to go away. My role is to help you settle and come to terms with uncomfortable feelings and thoughts that hinder you and bring unhappiness and I will do this at your pace but at the same time mindful of you moving on and not needing me anymore
I am an experienced counsellor and counselling supervisor I am able to work with a wide range of difficulties and challenges that people may face. I believe each person has their own pathway to healing and change, and as a counsellor it is my task to be a consistent and non- judgemental supportive presence along the way. I work in an integrative way; I work intuitively with you to find the best way forward for you using tools from different counselling traditions as appropriate.
It's important that you can 'connect' with your counsellor. Having a trusting working relationship is the foundation of working together towards positive change and with this in mind I offer a half price initial assessment session for you to consider further work together. I offer both short term solution focused therapy to assist with day to day issues and longer term therapy which may cover earlier experiences which still impact on adult life.
I work from Hereford City centre and would be happy to meet, hear your story and see if I could help. You are very welcome to get in touch.
Client testimonial Nov 2016
'She listens, she believes me and those are two very big things for me. She suggests achievable ideas that may help me, some of them I use very frequently. She gives me a lot of encouragement to keep going. More than anything I trust her with anything such is her acceptance of me'
