41 Bridge Street
Hello, I’m Carol and I’m an experienced and qualified counsellor and supervisor for counsellors. People come to counselling for a huge range of issues, sometimes something very specific and other times feeling sad or anxious and wanting change. I very much enjoy my work and assisting people to find the way forward that is right for them, it is hugely rewarding.
I work in an integrative way which means I use tools, models and ideas from different branches of therapy as well as garnering from my both my work and personal experience and my own practice as a buddhist.
Distress and trauma of various kinds creates the potential for unhappiness. The effects of bullying, childhood difficulties, experiencing hatred from another, bereavement, ill health of a loved one… all sorts of things that life presents us with, can be at the root of our unhappiness. I have found that often people minimize their distress and trauma(s) saying ‘well, it wasn’t as bad as …’ however, acknowledging with someone else the distress that we felt, or still feel, can assist with moving forwards with life. This does not mean that anyone is expected to go through details of their experiences if they choose not to, but rather to focus on how it impacts on their life now in the present day and gain skills to manage and hopefully enjoy life.
As a counsellor I will treat you with kindness, compassion and respect and work with you to find a way you can live your life now less encumbered by past or current experiences and look to future that is both manageable and enjoyable. I can also offer flower remedies which can be very helpful in moving on from negative emotions that hinder us.
You are very welcome to take a step forward and find out more. Please email me if you have any questions or if you would like to make an initial appointment which I offer at a reduced rate.
'Counselling has been such a positive experience, to be able to talk freely, knowing that you will be believed, helped to move forward and given hope for the future'
'She listens, she believes me and those are two very big things for me. She suggests achievable ideas that may help me, some of them I use very frequently. She gives me a lot of encouragement to keep going. More than anything I trust her with anything such is her acceptance of me'
