About me

There are many reasons why people make the decision to have counselling. Whether it be to get back on track or because you have had a distressing experience which is having a negative effect on you, maybe you feel lost or stuck, or maybe you would like to talk about something that is playing on your mind in a confidential environment with someone who is not involved in your everyday life.

I approach the therapeutic journey with each of my clients from a place of compassion and belief in their ability to reconnect with what is important to them.

The way I work as a therapist has a lot to do with my personal journey as well as my professional journey. I have learnt a great deal of knowledge through my own challenges, overcoming, managing and working through them, in and outside of my personal therapy. I understand how it feels to be in therapy and I believe we learn and grow mainly from real life experiences.

I am passionate about the work I do, I have true compassion and belief in all my Clients.   I believe we all have the inner resources and answers within us to lead fulfilling lives, however we can feel lost and stuck and it can be hard to hear this inner wisdom.

My role is to provide you with a safe space away from everyday life, space and time just for you, Here you can move forward in the direction that’s right for you. This is all done at your pace, I am here to guide you, and provide you with tools to help you in your every day life.

As a humanistic integrative practitioner, I incorporate various counselling approaches or schools of thought in order to find a way of working that suits your needs best.

Arranging a Session

If we decide to arrange an introductory session, this will give us the opportunity to see how we work together along with discussing any further questions and to arrange further sessions if we are going to continue. I believe we need to feel right about working together since our relationship will be essential to the success of the work we do therefore I offer a introduction session free of charge for 30 minutes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

In our initial session we will get to know each other and I will gauge an understanding of where you are in your life and what you might require from therapy.

Once I know more about you and where you require guidance, we can together look at the different therapeutic approaches that will best suit you, such as:

  •  Counselling in nature -  Research shows a link between exposure to nature and stress reduction. Stress is relieved within minutes of exposure to nature as measured by muscle tension, blood pressure, and brain activity. Time in green spaces significantly reduces your cortisol, which is a stress hormone. Nature also boosts endorphin levels and dopamine production, which promotes happiness.
  • Anger Management/Depression - Anger is an emotion that everyone feels sometimes, but if a person is feeling angry and not able to express their anger then they may be experiencing depression.  Some people feel shame in expressing their anger or may not know how to express it in a controlled way.  We can explore this slowly, at a pace that's right for you.
  • Relationship with your self and others - Talking through difficult relationships, gaining insight into yourself and others.  This helps with expressing difficult thoughts and feeling towards others in a safe space, no judgement or consequence . this expression will relive body tension and low mood as depression is caused by suppression of feelings.
  • Talking and exploring thoughts and feelings - Helping you gain insight into your beliefs and concepts. Guiding you to analyse distorted views of your self and the world around you.
  • Meditation and breathing - Tools to help balance the nervous system.  You can take these tools to use in your day to day life.  Helping reduce anxiety and disconnection to your self and others.
