About me

With over ten years of experience, I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment to allow you to explore the difficulties that you are experiencing. I work with individuals and couples on a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, social phobia, OCD, stress, low self-esteem, anger, relationship difficulties, abuse, loss and bereavement. I primarily work in a Person Centred approach, but integrate various models to meet your individual needs. These models include Gestalt, Existentialism,TA, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as using creativity when appropriate.

As we emerge out of Covid19 restrictions, I am again offering face to face appointments. However, I understand that some people would prefer to engage in therapy online. Therefore I am happy to offer Zoom sessions, which are proven to be as effective to regular sessions conducted in person.

I believe the therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and the client is central to fostering change. It can help you gain awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how you interact in the world. Working collaboratively, we would identify both your strengths and areas for growth in order to draw on your resilience, enabling development and change to live a more fulfilling life. Effective therapy provides a confidential space to explore these issues and can be as short as a single session or it can last several years. My approach involves putting your needs at the heart of the therapeutic process and I will always work at a pace that suits you.

Some people enter therapy knowing what they need to work through, others don’t. You may just have a feeling that something is not quite right. Regardless of what brings you to therapy I will meet you with warmth, empathy, understanding, and genuine interest.

I have worked for various charitable organisations, within the NHS and privately. I am a registered member of the BACP and subscribe to their ethical framework. I also have a up to date enhanced disclosure DBS, enabling me to work with vulnerable adults and children. I am always furthering my own personal and professional development, ensuring my skills and knowledge are well-informed, and that I, too, am involved in the process of change.

I am also a qualified supervisor. As an experienced supervisor I can ensure you provide good practice for your clients, facilitate clarity in therapeutic dynamics and offer support in personal development and self-care.
I work in a Person-Centred approach, integrating other modalities when appropriate. I supervise counsellors of all modalities, including supervision to students.
My qualification is in Creative Supervision, attained at the Jenny Biancardi Consultancy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
