About me

I am a counsellor / psychotherapist who has been working in the profession since 2005 working with adults and adolescents. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am a specialist counsellor for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). The NSPCC (2014) defines CSA as 'persuading or forcing a child to take part in sexual activities or encouraging a child to behave in sexually inappropriate ways’. Research indicates that as many as 1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys will experience some form of sexual abuse before the age of 18 (NCTSN, 2009). Therapy can be an effective treatment that facilitates trauma resolution and fosters healing and growth for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

I have also, worked in education in various capacities for the past 14 years with young people and their families. My work with parents and students have been enhanced greatly by my psychoanalytical skills and insights. I support young people who are dealing with behavioural challenges, low educational attainment, poor communication skills, family issues and other difficulties. I am keen to help parents who are struggling with their children’s behaviour, as well as helping young people work through their difficulties in a safe space.

My work is informed by psychoanalysis, psychodynamic and integrative client-centred approaches. My aim is to help clients understand themselves and the problems they are struggling with.    Many clients reported that their therapeutic treatment have helped them to developed self-awareness and have improved problem-solving skills; which often lead to them making major changes.

Therapeutic treatment is an excellent source of help for clients struggling with difficult issues; seeking to find purpose and or direction for their lives. It can be life changing to be listened to and to be understood in a responsive and confidential manner.

I have worked in organisations such as, The Awareness Centre, in collaboration with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust; Bromley Community Counselling Services; Deptford Psychotherapy Centre, Greenwich Mind and The Lorrimore Centre.

I have a wealth of experience working with: depression, anxiety, stress, relationship breakdown, bereavement, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, parenting, anger, work related matters , spiritual issues and many other psychological difficulties.

Mentoring

I concurrently work as a mentor for mature students, who seek to advance their careers and or need support in developing skills, to cope with balancing work, family and studies. Mentoring is also accessible to individuals who are seeking spiritual direction and support in upholding Christian values and ethos.
