Bridget Garrard (PG Dip, MBACP)
Welcome. I can offer you an experienced, supportive and confidential space in which to explore and help resolve emotional difficulties. My room is in central Norwich and I have some appointments up to 8pm.
I work in the person centred tradition, developed over 60 years ago in the United States by Dr Carl Rogers. It is now used world-wide, as an effective and non-intrusive way of helping people to understand and work through confusing or difficult feelings.
As a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) I abide by their ethical framework. This means that I will work alongside you, guided always by your needs and concerns. I hold a DBS enhanced certificate.
If you decide to work with me, you can opt for a short term agreement of up to six sessions, or longer term work with regular reviews. The number of sessions will be tailored to your individual needs and wishes, so the decision about how long to continue and when to finish will be yours, whichever option you initially choose.
It is my firm belief and understanding that every person, with the right kind of support, can find and hold the key to a better future, however complicated and difficult the past or the present may be. My aim as a counsellor is to help you do that.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained and qualified as a counsellor at UEA and hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Since 2003 I have worked for the NHS, mental health charities and counselling services in London, Norfolk and Norwich.
Because I always work with an individual, not a diagnosis, the list below is a guide only.

- Attachment disorder
- Bipolar disorder/Manic depression
- Carer support
- Child related issues

Each session lasts for 50 minutes and costs £40. Cancellations with 36 hours notice will not be charged.
If you think I might be the right counsellor for you, get in touch and we can arrange to meet up.
The first session will be a chance for you to talk about your current situation and what you hope to gain or change through counselling. It is also a chance to ask any questions before deciding whether to continue. I offer this at a reduced cost of £10.
