About me

Who I am
I am an experienced and professionally qualified BACP registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am also a Certified Hypnotherapist and Rapid Transformational Therapist (RTT). I am currently working 1 day a week for the NHS, whilst running a private practice including evenings and weekends. I work in and around East London - Walthamstow, Leyton and Leytonstone.

How I work
I view each of my clients as an individual with their own unique experiences, and so my therapeutic approach is tailored to suit their individual needs rather than being prescriptive.

I draw from a number of diverse approaches and styles including Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy.  I feel this is an important aspect of the work that I do, as one singular type of therapy is not necessarily going to suit everyone.

RTT is a bespoke service to counselling and as its name suggests, a more rapid way of working to achieve what a client wants. It is a systematic and effective tool and a form of psychotherapy which works with your subconscious mind to create desired lasting changes in the form of new perceptions, beliefs, emotions or behaviours.

I work with many different areas including general anxiety disorder, panic disorder, trauma, depression, bereavement, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, relationship issues, low self esteem and confidence, life changes, sexuality and personal development.

How I can help
I offer a safe, confidential and supportive environment where you can explore and make sense of any challenges you feel are holding you back. Through talking with a skilled, impartial and non-judgmental therapist, I will help you to recognise the feelings, issues and patterns that are stopping you from being happy. Through our work together you will integrate new skills and gain a greater understanding of yourself, feeling empowered to navigate any challenges that you meet.

What to expect in your first session
My role as a therapist is to guide you to where you want to go, and so during our initial consultation, we will talk about what matters to you most and what you want to get out of therapy. We will discuss how you would like to work whether it is through regular weekly counselling sessions (6-12 sessions for short term counselling or open ended sessions long term counselling), or whether you would prefer Rapid Transformational Therapy which will get to the core issue and resolve it within one (max 3) sessions.

However it is important to know that this session is really a chance for you to get a feeling for our therapeutic relationship. You may have a lot of thoughts and concerns during this session, in particular about the therapy process, so it’s a perfect time to share your reactions and feelings, as they can lead to great insight.

Further information

Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) combines Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It was developed by world renowned Hypnotherapist Marisa Peer.

RTT can deliver permanent change in a single 90 minute session. This type of therapy is for those who want immediate results allowing you to understand your thoughts & the power they hold, and thus equipping you with the power to change anything you want to change.

Transformation usually takes place within one session, but depending on what the client is presenting with, it may take another one or two per issue (eg. Depression & Anxiety may require several sessions).

RTT truly empowers clients. It allows you to access your mind on a deeper level. Your mind holds the information you need to understand the cause of what is holding you back & RTT ensures you find it quickly & easily.

Together we will uncover the meaning and interpretation of events in your life and then change the meaning. This leads to permanent powerful change because RTT enables the mind to tell the body what do do, how to react and how to feel.

We can effectively work through the issues (old beliefs) that rapidly come to the surface in order for you to process, understand, heal & rewire new, more beneficial, healthy beliefs & patterns.

"I went to see Brid to work on my anxiety. I was attracted to RTT because of the possibility of addressing problems directly and getting quicker results.

The actual hypnosis was such an amazing experience. Throughout I felt totally in control but my mind was able to focus on possible causes of my anxiety. I've never had this sort of clarity before. The whole time I felt safe and totally relaxed. The days following were so much calmer and less fraught for me and listening to the recording helps me to refocus and use the tools I have gained since having RTT. I'm confident that this will keep me on my journey towards an anxiety free life. It's totally within my power now.
Brid explained everything so well and I am absolutely delighted with the results so far.
My awareness has been awakened and I am confident that I have left many old habits feelings in the past, where they belong." S.S London, E17

"The hypnotherapy made a very deep impact on me. It was not intrusive or invasive in any way. It didn’t feel like anything was being done to me, but rather that Brid was facilitator, giving me the time and space to focus inwards on my own mind in a new way.

It unlocked access to memories I didn’t think I had, but unlike trying to remember the past, it placed me right there. It wasn’t simply remembering how I felt; it was a first-hand tangible feeling, very crisp and clear, unlike the patchy and foggy fragments of my conscious memories.

It was a very powerful experience, which left a strong and lasting impression on me; helping me understand my sense of being in the world and where that comes from. " S.A, London, E10

"Recently Brid guided me through my first ever hypnotherapy exercise – Upgrading the Child. We had agreed in a previous session that hypnotherapy would be a productive way for me to move through a particular issue. She gave me detailed information about what the exercise would entail, how long it would take, and helped me to feel comfortable about the process. On the day of the session I felt anxious about proceeding, however, Brid again explained the process step by step, and above all, that I couldn’t possibly get it wrong and that there were no ‘right’ answers.

I am so pleased that I went ahead with it. Brid used a simple, yet effective method to put me into a deeply relaxed, meditative state. She guided me through the exercise gently and skilfully as I engaged with my child self and with other significant players in my journey. Brid held the space well so that I felt safe and able to fully sink into and experience my feelings. There was a scripted portion of the exercise which was used to reinforce a positive relationship with myself which felt incredibly powerful, and when the exercise was brought to closure, I was so moved, and felt so free, that I was unable to speak, and shed many, much needed tears. I left the session feeling light and overwhelmingly good.

I feel so grateful to have been guided through this experience. During the week following the session I realised that I was feeling greater connection with my inner child, much more at peace with myself. I felt that the fractured feeling I had been living with was not as prominent, as if a great and deep alignment had taken place. I cannot recommend Brid’s skill as a hypnotherapist highly enough. I would happily recommend Upgrading the Child to anyone who may benefit from connecting with, and integrating their child self. Having had this experience, I now want hypnotherapy all the time! For everything!!" A.B, London E17

Yes. Hypnosis & in particular Rapid Transformational Therapy has worked & continues to work for thousands of people just like you, no matter the issue. It's simple, effective & proven.

No. You are awake and alert, aware of everything that is happening throughout the session.

No. You are in control and can always interrupt and stop! You cannot be made to do anything against your will. It is your experience, I simply facilitate you.

Sure. There are four different states of the brain: beta, alpha, theta and delta. You are in a beta state when you are awake and fully aware, you are very relaxed when you are in the alpha state. This is the state where hypnotherapy begins. You are in the theta state while meditating. This is where hypnosis is very deep. The delta state is the deep sleep. And this is the healing state. So hypnotherapy puts you in the alpa and theta state where you are still fully awake

During your session, you will feel, relaxed & comfortable. As hypnosis is a natural state that you experience in your day to day life it won't feel unfamiliar. Everyone is different & depending on how deeply we work, you might leave the session feeling amazing or you may just want to reflect on what came up. Whether you feel amazing or reflective, you will always leave with a sense of understanding, freedom & empowerment.

You can. Everyone can. As long as you wish to enter a deep relaxing state, you will. It's an easy, enjoyable and thoroughly relaxing process.

Absolutely. All clients are assured of confidentiality about any disclosed material, in accordance with professional codes of ethics. I do not contact other practitioners or doctors who the client may also be under, without the client’s permission. I destroy inactive files after three years in order to assure clients total confidentiality.

No, your 30min follow up is included in the initial booking price & is a great opportunity to recap, ask questions & gain even further insight. It's also a chance to discuss any other issues you may want to address in the future.

Hypnosis allows direct and immediate access to the 'reasons' we do what we do and react the way we react. The source of our issues are usually based on events in our childhood and are age appropriate understandings. When you're able to observe yourself and these understandings from a non judgmental perspective it's relatively easy to let them go & move onto rewiring new beliefs that are healthier for us. Sometimes it can take more than one session per issue but as a rule most issues only take one session. I don't want to waste my time or yours which is why I treat this way. Don't worry, if you wish to see me again we all have many more than one issue to address in life. *Please note long term depression & anxiety can take several sessions.

You are in complete control during hypnosis and will only share what you want to share. It is absolutely fine to keep details to yourself and we can still work together as long as you can name how the event impacted on you (how it made you feel).

Regression is an invaluable way to discover the source of an issue. I ask you to go back to a place and time where you remember feeling a particular way. Your mind knows exactly where this issues stems from and you will observe a particular experience or event from the past. You will only review it and whilst you may feel emotional observing it, you will feel completely in control and completely safe.
