Who I am
I am an experienced and professionally qualified BACP registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I currently working 1 day a week for the NHS, whilst running a private practice including evenings and weekends. I work in and around East London - South Woodford, Walthamstow and Leytonstone.
How I work
I view each of my clients as an individual with their own unique experiences, and so my therapeutic approach is tailored to suit their individual needs rather than being prescriptive.
I draw from a number of diverse approaches and styles including Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. I feel this is an important aspect of the work that I do, as one singular type of therapy is not necessarily going to suit everyone.
I work with many different issues including work related stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, bereavement, abuse, relationship issues, low self esteem, loss, separation, divorce, redundancy, life changes, sexuality and personal development.
How I can help
I offer a safe, confidential and supportive environment where you can explore and make sense of any challenges you feel are holding you back. Through talking with a skilled, impartial and non-judgemental therapist, I will help you to recognise the feelings, issues and patterns that are stopping you from being happy. Through our work together you will integrate new skills and gain a greater understanding of yourself, feeling empowered to navigate any challenges that you meet.
What to expect in your first session
My role as a therapist is to guide you to where you want to go, and so during our initial consultation, we will talk about what matters to you most and what you want to get out of therapy. At some point in order to get a good understanding of what is going on for you, we will explore your background, including your childhood and current family situation. However it is important to know that this session is really a chance for you to get a feeling for our therapeutic relationship. You may have a lot of thoughts and concerns during this session, in particular about the therapy process, so it’s a perfect time to share your reactions and feelings, as they can lead to great insight.
