About me

I mainly use Brief Solution Focused Therapy and E.M.D.R. in my practice which means that clients of all ages see benefits very quickly. Having been a Samaritan volunteer and a counsellor at MIND for many years, I have experienced a very wide range of issues and am still full of enthusiasm in working with each person to get them where they want to be. Three years into my BSc Psychology degree has also helped me gain insight and useful strategies.

I am an effective and confidential therapist and have worked with a diverse range of clients to help them to overcome their difficulties. Working with people to recognise their strengths, develop skills and find solutions, enhancing their self-esteem and personal resilience.

With creative guided discovery you will be in control of your own personal journey only with a travelling companion who will be honest whilst not judging you. Similar to a jigsaw puzzle, using patience and practical logic to find some of the pieces, can lead to some lost pieces coming to light.

I specialise in working with issues of identity. As things in our lives change so does what we expect of ourselves and what we perceive others expect of us. This can very easily lead to things like anxiety and depression, stress, phobias, addiction and also self-harm and suicide.
It may be due to bereavement or separation, redundancy, loss of home or security and coping with the effects of abuse, for instance. It dosn't occur to us that we may be grieving for the person, job, home we have lost but the part of us that has gone. This grief needs to be recognised and processed to enable us to feel free to function and excel at last.

When we have lots of worries or doubts that weigh us down or have sustained a traumatic psychological injury, life becomes overwhelming and lonely. By working together as 'scientists of the individual' we can start to see the bigger picture and thus gain perspective.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
