About me

I am an experienced counsellor who qualified in 1997, and became accredited in 2005.  As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am bound by their code of ethics and practice for counsellors. You may be assured of confidentiality within these guidelines.

Sometimes experiences can seem overwhelming, and counselling can offer a safe and secure environment in which to make sense of specific problems we face.  Anyone can suffer the effects of stress, which can arise from a variety of circumstances. Having to cope with loss or unexpected change, struggling with difficult relationships, worrying over health or emotional problems, use of drugs or alcohol, depression or anxiety – these are just some of the many different concerns that have led people to seek counselling.

Talking with a counsellor can help at these times when we feel vulnerable or anxious and find self-understanding most difficult.  Childhood experiences often affect the way we deal with problems in the present and how we manage current relationships, and this can also be looked at during counselling. You will be free to talk about your life in whatever way feels comfortable to you.

My role involves helping you explore your experiences, how you relate to others and how you see yourself.  Talking about problems helps to put them in context and makes it easier to cope with feelings and understand them. This may help to make it possible for you to make changes in your life.

There are many different counselling approaches, and as an integrative counsellor, I combine several theories using methods best suited to each client’s problems; including knowledge of psychology and behavioural techniques for dealing with anxiety disorders.

I am based in the village of Plumpton Green, which is accessible by bus or rail, and also work at The Yews Community Centre Haywards Heath.
