About me

How I work

At the heart of my counselling practice is my belief that every person is born with the natural capacity to lead a rich and fulfilling life with an inbuilt capacity to heal.

Every so often, though, life can feel difficult as we struggle to come to terms with day to day challenges, relational experiences, work-related conflicts and events that happen to us.

Sometimes we don’t know what is bothering us, we just have a sense that something doesn’t seem right or that there must be more to life than what we are currently experiencing.

At times like these, it can be good to talk to somebody who can help you to sort out what is the matter in a way that you cannot do by yourself.

I believe that all distress has its origins in early relational experiences and can only be repaired in the context of a human relationship. Therefore, I offer to work in partnership with you to explore a wide range of emotional and relationship experiences.

The issues I work with are :-

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self Esteem, Self Worth, Self Image
  • Grief, Loss, Bereavement and traumatic bereavement
  • Relationship issues/ affairs & betrayals
  • Family Issues
  • Emotional neglect
  • Trauma

I have specific experience and a genuine desire to work with people who have experienced traumatic bereavement and loss, either in early life or subsequently. As well as bereavement I’m interested in exploring issues of emotional neglect, life transitions, spirituality and religion and issues of identity-related to twins and multiple births.

I offer a service of support to pregnant woman and nursing Mothers believing that the early emotional bond between Mother and Child is of paramount importance to future emotional health.

Following a three-year course in Somatic Experiencing I integrate talking therapy with nervous system regulation to encourage a natural resolution to trauma and life difficulties. I am excited by this way of working, as in my experience it is able to unlock stuckness and works at a deeper level than talking therapy alone can do.

I can't claim to know exactly what it feels like to be you because every person is unique. I am however committed to walking alongside you through your process and look forward to seeing you emerge from what can often feel like an impossible situation with more clarity, purpose, meaning and fulfilment.

When you are ready to discuss your concerns further, e-mail me for a chat and to book your introductory session to discuss your concerns.

I offer an initial interview session of an hour and a half  at £50.
Where we can explore together any questions you might have about the counselling process, how I work and to get a sense of whether we can work together.

If you decide that you would like to continue counselling with me I charge  £50 per 50 min session.

I am committed to supporting you to find the therapeutic support that would work best for you. I have a network of colleagues with expertise in many different supporting capacities and would discuss referral onto them or other agencies if what you need does not align with what I can provide.

Further information

Often people have conflicting push/pull feelings about embarking on therapy. They are unsure as to whether it is therapy they need or something entirely different. Many are bewildered by the wide - range of therapies on offer and what would be the best approach for them. Frequently people are concerned as to whether they will 'get on' with the therapist. All these thoughts and feelings are natural when you are considering investing your time, money and attention to something new and as important as understanding yourself better.

I am mindful of this 'pre therapy' state and try to make this transition as easy as possible for you. I am happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have. Call me for a confidential chat on 07821 691 728.
