About me

It takes courage to make the first step towards having counselling. Life can be complex and we all hit points where we really can't see the woods through the trees, I can help you to work this out in a safe and comfortable setting. When I trained I wanted to learn many of the theories as everybody is different and whilst one theory might work for one person it may not suit another. I am a qualified Integrative counsellor which means I have knowledge of various theories allowing me to find one that works for you, I also work with CBT if requested. I have a special interest in working with stress and anxiety.

Maybe you are struggling with relationship or family issues, or work isn't going too well, perhaps you have health problems or have low self-esteem. Counselling could help you understand these problems and work with them in a more constructive way. Sometimes we simply just get stuck at a point in our lives and don't feel happy - I could help you to see exactly what is going on, or simply give you a chance to talk and to be heard.

I offer daytime and evening appointments and work with Teenagers, Adults and Couples. I work from clinics in West Wickham and Sevenoaks in Kent and also Bletchingley in Surrey. In addition I offer online therapy via Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime and telephone sessions.

People come to counselling for a wide range of issues including:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Family difficulties

  • Phobias

  • Panic attacks

  • Lack of confidence and self esteem

  • Work problems

  • Personal development

Seeing a counsellor could help you look at what is going on in your life and help you to find the answers that you need.

You can talk about anything that is worrying you in a respectful and confidential setting. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you, to help you work through the difficulties and look at the choices open to you. Having a chance to talk about things with someone who has no other place in your life can often help.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually weekly. If you are not sure about counselling, you are welcome to phone me to see if it is for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training is Integrative which means I use several different theories, this allows me to use the style and technique best suited to you. I can offer both short and long term therapy.  My Professional Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy is accredited by the Royal College of Nursing.

Being an accredited member of the National Counselling Society I abide by their code of ethics. In addition to this the National Counselling Society's register is accredited to the Department of Heath's Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) scheme.

I am a member of BACP and am on their register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists.

I have an Advanced Professional Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I also have gained extra training to work with children and young people and have a CPCAB level 5 Diploma working with C&YP.

I am in regular supervision and I am fully insured. I have a current Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Certificate.

I have also worked as a voluntary counsellor at Mind, one of the countries leading charities working with health issues.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
