About me

I'm a qualified, experienced and BACP Accredited counsellor (Accreditation is a higher quality standard for more experienced members of the BACP), offering individual or couples counselling for issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, the negative impact of past events, relationship problems and more.  Sessions are held either in my comfortable counselling room in my home or via telephone or online counselling via Skype/Google Meet/Whatsapp. I offer a discounted rate for the first session so that you can make an informed decision about whether you would like to work with me. Why not take a look at my introduction video too.

Through careful listening, reflection and professional insight I will support you in exploring the different aspects of the problems you’re having, so that you can gain clarity in what is happening in your life, come to terms with the past, be more in control of the present and have hope for the future.

All sessions are confidential so you can feel safe to share what has been going on for you.  Clients regularly comment on how comfortable they feel talking to me and that they find the sessions helpful, in coming to a greater self-awareness and understanding of their situation and how to navigate through their difficulties more effectively.  My qualifications and experience enable me to tailor counselling to the individual needs of each client, so you can be sure of a professional service that can be beneficial even from the first session.  I've prepared an introductory video so you can get an idea of what I'm like, but I would also recommend trying an initial session so that you can meet with me and get a feel for whether you feel comfortable talking to me and whether I'm the right person to help you, so please feel free to get in touch to arrange this.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
