The Chesson Therapy Center
59a Chesson Road
With over 30 years experience as a counsellor and couple therapist, I have worked with a broad range of client concerns, including the challenges of life stage transitions, relationship and career difficulties, depression, bereavement, chronic illness and alcohol/substance misuse problems.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training began in 1985 as an in-patient counsellor on the Addictions Unit at Charter Hospital in Hampstead, London. I subsequently completed an AEB validated Counselling Diploma at CSCT (Central school of Counselling and Therapy). I have completed a BACP accredited Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Marital Therapy with London Marriage Guidance and the University of East London, and also have had training experience in both Systemic Family Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
I regularly attend workshops and seminars for continuing professional development.
I am currently working towards certification as an EFT Therapist (Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy), and have completed an externship with Dr Susan Johnson, the main proponent of EFT. To support my EFT training I regularly act as a helper to colleagues delivering EFT training courses in London.
I am a Registered member (505945) of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (bacp.co.uk) and abide by their code of ethics, and attend regular clinical supervision for my practice with both Couples and Individuals, as required by BACP.
I have been in private practice since 1993.
