It is a rare individual who won't, at some point in their lives, have a Mental Health issue - we can suffer (for example) depression, low mood, bereavement, relationship difficulties or low self-esteem. Sometimes, in our lives, we just need to rearrange our lifestyle, job or perspective because we feel stuck, or that life seems to lack zest or purpose. Frequently there exists a great deal of hurt or injustice in the past which, while unresolved, continues to affect us every day. It is vital to grasp these times as opportunities to grow, to improve and be more content because as we all know - life is too short and we all deserve happiness.
Speaking to friends and family about such issues isn't always possible or comfortable for us, but it is crucial that we do talk. I appreciate more than anything the value of an individual to be heard, to be accompanied in their darker days, and to be facilitated in coming to the best changes they can make in life - for them. No one knows you better than yourself - if we don't stop occasionally - and address our needs, then our mental health may well suffer. I always seek to collaboratively bring this about through counselling.
