About me

Hello

As a professional therapeutic counsellor, I have the training and experience required to support you through the challenges you face.

With a calm and empathic nature, I offer a safe and confidential space to offload about, and explore the things that matter most to you.

Because I am not a part of your everyday life, you can feel more able to say what you REALLY think and feel about things, without fear of being judged or upsetting someone.

In your sessions we might talk about depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, abuse, relationships or bereavement - or something else.

There are no minimum or maximum number of sessions, so we can take things at your pace, with no rush and no pressure.

First steps

Getting started in counselling can feel like a step into the unknown, and therefore takes courage.

You might have questions about counselling, or the way we might work together, and we can begin discussing these by email, ’phone or text.

The next step is to book and meet for a first session, and if you're happy with everything, you can book regular sessions from there.

‘Person Centred’

There are various types of counselling offered here on the Counselling Directory. My expertise is in ‘Person Centred’, which is one of the most common and popular approaches to counselling. It puts you, the client, at the centre of the work we do together by focussing our sessions on your concerns, feelings and values. Rather than giving you advice or telling you how you ought to feel, I would support you in exploring how things are for you, and in working out what might make life better.

Couples counselling

I am qualified to work with individuals and also couples, whether married or not. Plus other relationships such as a parent and child, or work colleagues.

Further information

My private practice in Rushden is based in a beautiful garden room that provides a comfortable, calm and private space in which to work. There is off-road parking and full accessibility. Daytime and evening appointments are available.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
