About me

Depression, anxiety, loss and grief, bad habits or addiction, relationship difficulties, or just a sense of life not working for you.  I see people in therapy for a wide range of problems, and work from the premise that we have internal resources to flourish in life - and that these may be blocked in any number of ways.  I believe therapy should help us to identify and take down the barriers that keep us from the life we desire.

Whilst it is not a panacea, nor the only way to resolve personal struggles, therapy does have the capacity to positively change the trajectory of a life. As such, I take seriously the responsibility of working with you, and I am driven to help you find your solutions.

Having spent over twenty years working in the mental health field, I offer professional and discrete counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples in Sevenoaks and Rochester. I also provide online video sessions.

Please feel free to contact me - by email or text in the first instance - to discuss your situation. When enquiring, please let me know if you are looking for face-to-face or online sessions, and which practice you would like to attend (Sevenoaks or Rochester).

Please visit website www.blbupchurch.co.uk for further detail.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I hold MBACP status (verifiable on BACP website), the recommended standard when seeking a therapist or counsellor.
  • Diploma in integrative counselling 2010-2013.
  • I worked in the fields of substance misuse and psychiatry for over twenty years, as a qualified mental health nurse (RNMH).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
