About me

We have all gone through a difficult time recently.  Clients often confiding in the therapeutic space they don’t think their anxiety, stress or depression is ‘bad enough’ compared to ‘others’.  A world in which they can’t understand the feelings that are merging, so many losses, readjustments and uncertainty.

There are times in everyone’s life when we suffer loss. Loss of any sort can have a significant impact on the quality of life, our feelings of self-worth. It can be loss of a loved one, loss of a relationship, home, job, self-esteem or simply losing our way. Loss and change are often devastating and can turn our world upside down. At a time when everything seems ‘all at sea’ counselling can provide a safe haven in which to express our feelings and mourn our losses until we feel strong again.

Like never before we find life is changing; it is hardly surprising our well-formed strategies that have previously worked so well no longer have the same positive effect.

This can throw us ‘off course’ and can have a major unsettling impact on our lives and relationships. Counselling can help us to see things from a different perspective and helps to discover new strategies for overcoming or living with our difficulties going forward. My role is to facilitate the process of gaining greater self-awareness and understanding of others so as to improve our relationships and live a more fulfilling life.

I have over 15 years’ experience of working with individuals, couples and any relationship that is struggling to find a way forward, including siblings or any other family relationship.  I am Relate and CRUSE trained. I have a flexible approach to sessions; brief intervention work - for short term problems, which can be a reaction to a life event. Longer term therapy - for difficulties you may have been struggling with over a longer period of time, or simply space to sit with the uncertainty that surrounds us at the moment.

Sessions are tailored to the needs of each client. The main focus of our first session will be to make sure you feel comfortable working with me, as I believe it is not a case of ‘one size fits all’.  The quality of our relationship will have a beneficial influence on the effectiveness of our work together.

For more information on what appointments are available please contact me on my mobile or email me.

I offer a confidential space for you to tell your story, not to be judged, but to be listened to empathetically.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
