Profile

Mrs Belinda West is a Tavistock trained child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist with twenty years of experience of working with children and families. She has worked in a variety of settings including education as well as within the NHS (CAMHS) where she still practices. She has an enhanced and up to date CRB check.

She is a full member of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists (ACP) which is the sole accredited organisation recognised by the NHS for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. She is currently undertaking research into the impact of bereavement upon very young children and their families. She is also a qualified early years teacher and play therapist.

Belinda has extensive experience of working with troubled children, teenagers and their families. She works using a mixture of methods which include play work, observation and relationship focused interventions.

She is part of a group of senior specialist practitioners called 'The Dragonfly' who work within the south west ( www.dragonflysouthwest.com).

I offer various packages on request which vary according to treatment plan.

Further Information

I offer a variety of different treatment packages. These include initial assessment packages which can incorporate report writing to other professionals where appropriate.

I can offer both short term (up to 6 session) treatment models as well as offering longer term work (for over a year) and more intensive work (up to 3 times weekly).

I have considerable experience in working with parents of troubled children and can offer regular work to parents who are concerned about their children's emotional development.
