About us
I am an experienced and qualified Psychotherapist and Specialist Trauma Therapist, with an additional specialism in Forensic Therapy, registered and accredited with the BACP, in addition to being a qualified Clinical Supervisor. I established Bedford Community Counselling (BCC) in 2012 together with a colleague, Katja Fischer. We are passionate about offering an affordable, professional and ethical therapy service to individuals and couples living in and around Bedfordshire.
Our approach places you, our client, at the heart of the work. Our focus is on supporting you as you explore and make sense of whatever difficulties, challenges, questions or experiences may have led you to therapy. We will offer you a warm, confidential and accepting therapeutic relationship, a place where you can feel listened to, supported and safe.
Counselling can help with a variety of issues and experiences, including anxiety, relationship and family issues, depression, feelings of panic, sadness, bereavement, phobias, addictions, abuse and low self-esteem.
We are a Community Interest Company, which means that our focus is on supporting adults in our local community. Our core belief is that affordable individual and couples counselling should be accessible to anyone who wants or needs it, and so we offer a sliding scale of fees to make our service as available as possible. We promote and embrace diversity, equality and difference, in a confidential, neutral and comfortable environment, right in the heart of Bedford. Corporate clients are also very welcome.

Training, qualifications & experience
All therapists at Bedford Community Counselling are Accredited or Registered Members of the BACP and are bound by its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Our trainee and newly qualified therapists are also members of the BACP and have already completed at least three years training. All of our counsellors have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. All our therapists are supervised, fully insured and engage in regular training.
Member organisations *
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Additional information
We operate a sliding scale for our fees, according to the client’s household income. Please feel welcome to discuss this with us.
Individuals
Our fees range from £35 to £65 per 50 minute session.
Specialist therapies (Trauma Therapy, Relational Therapies including DIT and Couples counselling and Forensic counselling) - £65 per session.
Counselling students
We understand the financial implications of counsellor training, and we have tried to set a fee that takes this into account. Our fees for students studying counselling are £40 per session.
Clinical Supervision
£60 per hour or £85 per 1.5 hours. We welcome supervision enquiries from both counselling students and qualified experienced therapists.

Daytime and evening sessions are available Monday to Friday. Please contact us to discuss availability.

Bedford Community Counselling is open from 8.30am to 8.30pm, Monday to Friday. Please feel welcome to discuss the various options available with us.
Free car parking is available in the evenings and there is a pay and display car park very close to our building (which is free after 6pm).
